Joint Pain?!!?

Why are so many people convinced that CBD oil can help them with chronic pain? We asked around. Rheumatism is a disease which many faces. In all cases, it costs the affected patients a large part of their quality of life. In addition, there are the numerous side effects that classic pain relievers can cause. Often, additional medication must be taken to reduce unwanted side effects. Many people come across CBD oil in search of alternatives.

What is CBD?

The cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol) is the most important ingredient for us! CBD stimulates part of our nervous system, the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Our body regulates, among other things, the body's own defense against pain.

According to the WHO (World Health Organization) , CBD is not addictive, is not intoxicating and is not harmful to health. Thus, CBD oils can also be taken in the long term and do not lead to any dependency.

What is rheumatism?

The term rheumatism hides many different painful illnesses. It affects joints and bones in particular, but also muscles, tendons or bursa .

Is it rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis or gout? These terms are often mentioned in one breath. However, these are different diseases of the joints with different causes.

Here are the major differences:

Arthritis : inflammation of the joints , often called rheumatism

Osteoarthritis : mechanical wear of the joints and cartilage

Gout : painful inflammation due to a metabolic disorder

What they all have in common is the great pain.

In contrast, strong painkillers and anti-inflammatory agents with many side effects are usually prescribed. Therefore, many patients are looking for alternatives that relieve pain and inflammation, but without habituation effects and without harmful effects on health.

Does CBD oil work against joint pain?

CBD can be used in medicine for pain. On the other hand, this means increasing competition for conventional medicines in the pharmaceutical industry. It is therefore not surprising that the pharmaceutical lobby bends relevant laws to the benefit of industry and to maximize profits. So all other pain patients have to wait, and statements about the effectiveness of CBD in pain are neither desired nor allowed.

But the body itself also produces cannabinoids to ward off pain without having to be supplied from outside, these are so-called endocannabinoids. It has been found that in people whose bodies produce enough of them, the body's defense against pain works better than in others:

  • The body's own cannabinoids reduce sensitivity to pain.

Researchers assume that the path from pain to the brain is interrupted via the nerve pathways. In addition, there is the anti-inflammatory component, which fights painful areas of inflammation in the joints.

  • The body produces cannabinoids to clear the “pain memory”.

When acute pain becomes chronic, it is often due to the pain memory. The body notices long-lasting pain. This means that the patient continues to suffer even though the former reason no longer exists. Endocannabinoids are increasingly formed in order to erase the pain that has been learned.

  • When pain becomes a mental burden.

Chronic pain means an additional heavy burden for the person's psyche. Sleep disorders or depression are not uncommon. Since endocannabinoids regulate the level of serotonin (happiness hormone), mood also improves. This also makes it easier to deal with the pain disorder.

What are the side effects of CBD?

Compared to conventional pain relievers, the risk of side effects related to blood pressure, liver or kidneys is significantly lower. Thus, CBD oils can also be taken in the long term. They do not lead to any dependency.
